King Charles's heartfelt Ukraine message on war anniversary days after William's comments
King Charles has sent a heartfelt message to the people of Ukraine on the second war anniversary.
King Charles has sent a touching message to the people of Ukraine on the second anniversary of their war with Russia - just days after Prince William's Gaza comments.
Today marks two years since Russia launched its unprovoked and illegal invasion against Ukraine. Taking to X, the King sent a message, which read: "The determination and strength of the Ukrainian people continues to inspire, as the unprovoked attack on their land, their lives and livlihoids enters a third, tragic, year."
The monarch, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, praised the Ukrainian people for their "heroism" in the "face of indescribable aggression".
He added: "I have felt this personally in many meetings I have had with Ukrainians since the start of the war, from President Zelenskyy and Mrs Zelenska, to the new army recruits training here in the United Kingdom.
"I continue to be greatly encouraged that the United Kingdom and out allies remain at the forefront of international efforts to support Ukraine at this time of such great suffering and need."
To conclude, the King said: "My heart goes out to all of those affected, as I remember them in my thoughts and prayers." The King's statement appears to have been met with appreciation, especially from those in Ukraine.
Taking to X, one person commented: "The Royal Family's support for Ukraine is greatly appreciated there [Ukrainian-flag emoji]."
The monarch's statement comes just days after Prince William commented on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
William spoke out that "too many had been killed" in the conflict, and pleaded for the fighting to end "as soon as possible".
“Despite the tremendous hardship and pain inflicted upon them, Ukrainians continue to show the heroism with which the world associates them so closely.”

Despite huge amounts of criticism for William's decision to make the political statement, many Britons have backed the future King.
According to data collected recently by YouGov, of those 7,965 adults that participated in the poll, 47 percent said that it was right for William to speak out.
In his statement, William wrote: "I remain deeply concerned about the terrible human cost of the conflict in the Middle East since the Hamas terrorist attack on 7 October."
He added: "I, like so many others, want to see an end to the fighting as soon as possible." King Charles is currently taking some time away from public-facing duties after being diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer earlier this month.
