A gardening whiz has shown other green-fingered people online how to keep their cucumbers deliciously crisp for longer in a viral social media post.

A gardening content creator took to Instagram to spread the word about her simple and affordable hack to keep cucumbers fresh for longer.

Instagrammer Angela Judd (@growing.in.the.garden), who boasts a cool 154,000 followers, often takes to the platform to share tips and tricks from her garden.

“Cooling off cucumbers quickly after harvest is the secret,” she explained in her video dedicated to cucumbers.

In the video, Angela cools down some cucumbers by storing them in cold water.

She shows how this simple trick works by filling a big bowl with ice water and dunking freshly picked cucumbers for 15 minutes.

“Store the cucumbers in the fridge for the longest storage life,” she adds.

In the caption, the content creator repeated the easy process, which costs nothing and can bring added freshness to your meals.

She instructed: “1. Morning Harvest: Pick your cucumbers early in the day while it’s still cool.

“2. Ice Bath: Dunk them in ice water immediately after harvesting for at least 15 minutes.⁣”

The social media user continued: “You’ll be amazed by how long they stay crisp and delicious!

“Storage Tip: Keep your cucumbers in the fridge’s crisper drawer, wrapped in a slightly damp cloth to preserve their moisture.

“We love eating our cucumbers fresh and using them in Greek salad with cucumber, feta, and olives, cucumber infused water, and cucumber salad with dill and lemon vinaigrette⁣.” (sic)

A plethora of commenters rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts on the post.

One person said: ”Oh this makes sense why mine all seem floppy because I don’t cook them fast enough! Now I know.”

A second user added: “I’m going to try this with the next bunch.”
