Speaking at yesterday’s press conference, she said: “We may have a couple of new arrivals for you, yes, but I’m really, really happy with our cast at the moment actually.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again but I think we’ve got the best ensemble cast of any soap.
When asked if any fan favourites maybe returning to the soap, she added: “We may have something planned for autumn that might be a catalyst for a character group that is on screen at the moment. I don't want to say too much but there may be another return planned."

And while rival soap Coronation Street has come under fire for bringing in celebrity guests including Shayne Ward and Sarah Harding – who was panned for her “wooden” performance -onto the cobbles, Kate says she’s open to the idea of introducing pop stars to Emmerdale.
“It’s all about who’s right for the role whether their background is in singing or some who trained at drama school, it might be someone who’s never trained in their life.

“You get some people who have never been to drama school and learned on the shop floor and that works brilliantly too.
"It all depends on who’s right for the part. I wouldn’t close my mind to anything."
