Piers Morgan vows to sign up for Strictly - but only on one condition

Piers Morgan had previously said performing on Strictly would be his "idea of hell" - but he has now had a change of heart.

Piers Morgan once turned down a hefty fee of $250,000 (£194,000) to perform on the US version of Strictly, Dancing With The Stars.

However, now back in the UK, he's admitted that he'd be willing to backtrack on his decision and take to the dancefloor after all. However, there's one condition - they'd have to be "brutal".

Talking on Twitter, he wrote a daring message to the execs at one of the BBC's biggest shows. "I'm prepared to save the day by being a contestant, but only on one condition - that whoever trains me is so tough, brutal and uncompromising that I win." He added that he was "ready to bring back the sparkle".

Piers also stated that he had admiration for anyone willing to "risk their reputations and dignity" by twirling around on the dancefloor with seasoned professionals, despite not knowing the ropes themselves. He cited many of his former Good Morning Britain colleagues who'd taken part, such as Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins and Ranvir Singh.

Meanwhile, Piers claimed in his column for today's Sun that Giovanni Pernice had referenced training him in the past. According to Piers, he'd said: "I would love to dance with sexy Piers Morgan, to get down with him on the dancefloor and see what he's really made of. I would destroy his confidence in a week."

Piers said he'd "laughed" at the thought that anyone could damage his "unbreakable" confidence, but added that he'd "expect nothing less from him if he'd agreed to [train him]".

He added that being a dancer is "physically and emotionally tough" and requires "the ability to withstand a lot of pain".

Strictly's future has been at stake in recent weeks as it was rocked by scandals involving Giovanni Pernice and Graziano di Prima.

Graziano was sacked for "gross misconduct" after kicking his 2023 dance partner Zara McDermott and returned to his childhood home on the island of Sicily to do a £6 per hour job "digging trenches".

He has reportedly since been taken into the care of a hospital and is being "monitored hourly" after admitting he did wrong.

Giovanni, on the other hand, has always maintained his innocence and vowed that he will be exonerated of any wrongdoing due to "bombshell evidence".

There is reportedly audio footage of Amanda apologising to him for being difficult to work with, describing herself as a "nightmare" and suggesting that he "probably felt like throwing her out of a window".

The results of the BBC probe into Giovanni's behaviour are expected to come to light next week.
