Susanna Reid flooded with support as she makes huge Good Morning Britain announcement

Susanna Reid and Ed Balls presented Friday's instalment of Good Morning Britain where they covered the results of the General Election.

Susanna Reid was inundated with support as she made a huge announcement. The presenter, 53, is a regular on Good Morning Britain and fronted the ITV programme last week with Ed Balls.

On Friday (July 5), the pair covered the results for the General Election, which saw Labour leader Keir Starmer win a record number of seats.

Susanna discovered that their coverage drew in the most viewers in three years and was the third biggest show on ITV that day. The broadcaster shared the news on Instagram, posting a number of snaps taken during filming.

This included a selfie of her and Ed as well as images of the GMB crew working behind the scenes.

In the caption, Susanna wrote: "ELEX COVERAGE! Just found out Friday’s results show was our biggest @gmb for THREE YEARS! Reaching almost 4.5 million viewers. Third biggest show on ITV all day - after Euros & Corrie!"

She continued: "Was amazing to spend today’s sunny Monday morning at Westminster with our brilliant @gmb team (thanks Mark, Claire, Sophie, Alex, Jack and Matt) & our guests inc Andrew & Kevin and Sir Tony Robinson."

Susanna signed off the post: "Thank you for watching - we love what we do and we love that you love it too." Susanna's co-stars and followers rushed to the comments to congratulate the GMB team on their hard work.

Rob Rinder penned: "Brilliant coverage. Proud of you both." Carol Vorderman added: "Congratulations Susanna … and Ed … and the whole team."

A third declared: "Great work Susanna and team..we look to you for balance & reason even when it's not what we want to hear, I'd rather it be you telling me!!" Echoing this, someone else wrote: "Fabulous news! No brainer. Congratulations to you @edballs and all the GMB team #dreamteam."

During Monday's instalment (July 8) of Good Morning Britain, Susanna and Ed ditched the studio in London and presented the programme from Westminster.

They had a full view of the House of Parliament in the background as they interviewed a number of politicians following the election results. [;PLKN, blasting the presenters for leaving Laura Tobin alone to present the weather.

One fumed: " @GMB I was just telling my mate I’d turn straight for Suzanna and then you cut to the weather and you’ve left poor Laura on her own in a massive studio, I’m switching to BBC Breakfast…"

Another agreed: "@GMB can't believe you've all gone out and left @Lauratobin1 home alone in the studio lol."
