With pals increasingly concerned for his health, veteran TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has cryptically remarked that he’s living “on borrowed time” after the shock collapse of his marriage to fellow TV personality Ruth Langsford.

The GB News star, who has reportedly sought comfort by speaking to a number of female friends since his separation from Ruth, has said he hopes to remain on good terms with his soon-to-be-ex wife.

When asked about the state of their relationship, reports Best magazine, he said: “It’s too early to say, but I hope we can still be friends.”

Eamonn was seen using a walking frame at The Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) awards bash at the end of last month.

Picking an award for best breakfast show, the 64-year-old seemed to jokingly imply that he had been stabbed in the back, quipping: “I went for an operation a year and a half ago and it went wrong. So I got two things in my back that I didn’t want.”

Belfast-born presenter Eamonn said it was “not a good time at all” at the moment as his co-presenter on the award-winning GB News breakfast show, Isabel Webster, described how friends and colleagues were rallying around him: “He’s gone through an awful lot and we are all 100 percent behind him.”

In recent weeks, Eamonn has been linked to Katie Alexander, a 42-year-old relationship counsellor whom he has developed a close friendship with, along with podcaster Hayley Sparks, and facialist Lisa Harris, a friend of the former couple.

Eamonn is suffering from chronic pain as a result of last year’s back operation, and has expressed concerns that he’s reaching the age at which his dad died. Speaking in January, he said the "harsh reality” was that he might never be able to walk alone again unaided.

He said: “It's as if somebody up there is playing with my life. In the past year I've had an operation on my back which went wrong and has confined me to a wheelchair. I've fallen and broken my shoulder. Honestly you could not make it up."

He concluded: “I have tried every treatment, but you go. Maybe I'll never get out of it,' which is a harsh reality to face.”

Both Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are devoted to their rescue collie cross Maggie. In a previous interview with The Telegraph, the pair gushed over how much happiness their new furry friend had brought into their lives.

"She's just adorable," Ruth shared. "We love her so much."

During the chat, Eamonn echoed Ruth's words about their shared love for Maggie but cryptically added: "If my wife loved me the way my dog loves me, I'd be a very happy man."

A source recently claimed to The Sun that Eamonn's recent health issues could have an impact on who keeps the dog for good.

"Maggie is like a daughter to them. They dote on her. But she's getting on and they know she needs stability," they said.

"It's a case of who can give her that. Eamonn adores her and Maggie's been such a support during his health woes.

"The thought of giving her up is heartbreaking to him. But if Ruth is able to get out and about and walk her more, then it may well be that she gets Maggie in the split."
