Louise Thompson has admitted that she has "lost a full year of her life" after giving birth to her son. The Made in Chelsea star spoke exclusively to Express Online about her traumatic birth.

The TV personality has recently teamed up with Not On The High Street to curate an exclusive Summer Lifestyle collection. She opened up about what life has been like getting back to work after giving birth two years ago.

"It's really important for me to get back into work. I lost a full year of my life. Work was right at the bottom of my priority list," she explained.

"I really didn't have the capacity to even - like I don't think I even checked my bank account for a year. I was so unwell. This is really the year where I want to work on partnering with brands that I love, but also feel like part of a bigger team."

It has been two and a half years since Louise almost lost her life after giving birth to her son, Leo. Her experience involved haemorrhages, the removal of her colon, and this year - the fitting of a stoma bag.

As a result, she has also been diagnosed with birth trauma; depression; PTSD and post-partum suicidal thoughts.

She added: "My brain was basically really muddled, and I just couldn't understand what had happened. So I'll often say, "Oh", my brain was playing tricks on me or like my brain couldn't understand what had happened."

Louise also struggled to bond with her son initially after giving birth to him. She recalled: "So he was probably about five or six months old, and I looked at the picture and I was like, "Oh", and it made me feel sick.

"And I just remember, like thinking, "Gosh", in that moment, like I had no idea what was going on."

Louise has now made a full recovery but has been fitted with a stoma bag earlier this year. She continued: "I think it's one of those things that you learn how to live with.

"And I'm only sort of five months into living with this. And, you know, every day is a school day. I just got back from Paris, which was an amazing trip, and I guess it took quite a lot of courage to do that and to wear like a tight dress."

Louise has partnered with small business champion Not On The High Street to create her newest collection, where she has selected her favourite Summer Lifestyle picks from unique small businesses that are perfect for the warmer weather.
