The BBC's investigation into former Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice has taken a serious turn, with two ex-detectives joining the probe. They have reportedly already interviewed one female complainant and are scheduled to meet with another two shortly, as they delve deeper into allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

An insider told The Sun: "The BBC is taking this extremely seriously. Two ex-Met cops are conducting all the interviews and have been tasked with gathering evidence - including texts and screenshots - which they will present to corporation executives."

It has been noted that "Giovanni has not yet been spoken to".

In a dramatic twist last month, it was reported by the aforementioned publication that the 33 year old audience favourite had decided to leave the show. In the wake of these events, several celebrities have sought legal advice to express their concerns about their experiences on Strictly.

Express.co.uk has contacted BBC representatives for comment.

Amanda Abbington, the 50 year old actress, claimed she suffered mild PTSD following her stint with the Italian dancer.

Meanwhile, Giovanni is currently on tour and has expressed gratitude for the "continued support" from the public. He has firmly stated: "I've always rejected any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour."

He also confirmed his full cooperation with the BBC's ongoing investigation, which he believes "I am cooperating fully with the ongoing BBC investigation, which will determine the truth."

On Instagram yesterday Pernice, who is currently on tour across the country with Strictly star Anton Du Beke, branded allegations about his teaching methods 'simply false'.

He wrote: "Every week, there are totally untrue stories about me in the media.
