Rod Stewart tells wife Penny Lancaster 'you've changed' after major move
Penny Lancaster finished her police training three years ago and is now a fully qualified special constable.
Penny Lancaster has revealed her husband Rod Stewart told her she had changed after she announced the shock decision to change her career and join the police force. The former model and television presenter, 53, first volunteered for City of London Police in 2020 when she appeared on Channel 4 series Famous and Fighting Crime.
The premise of the show sees famous faces swap the glitz and glamour for a hard-hitting job in the police force. While she appeared on the programme, the Loose Women star would come home feeling enthusiastic and excited.
She told The Times: "There’s something about getting justice for people. My husband, in particular, was shocked at how enthusiastic and how excited and what a buzz I was on, every time I came home.
"Sometimes I didn’t come home, because it would be late shifts and we’d stay up. We were filming in Peterborough with the Cambridgeshire police. I’d stay over for the next shift the next day, depending on the pattern."
After the show ended, Penny decided she wanted to pursue a career in the police force and sat her husband and two sons, Alastair and Aiden down to tell them about her big news.

In April 2021, she completed her training to become a special police constable and is now fully qualified.
Penny has been a part of significant memorable events as she was on police duties during the Queen's funeral and King Charles' coronation.
She explained to the aforementioned publication: "When I first told them the idea of joining, they thought I was absolutely mad.
"And also, being young lads, my sons didn’t think it was cool. But now they’re so proud. It’s a complete turnaround.

"I think it’s because they’ve heard the stories and seen the change in me. To begin with they were like, ‘Mum, you’ve become stricter. I don’t like this.’
And even Rod would say, ‘You’ve changed. You’re more forceful, you’re more this, you’re more that'."
The ITV star went on to explain that the police force has taught her about morals and ethics which has allowed her to speak up more and stand up for herself.
She added that being a police force is about a lot more than just how to handcuff someone and she's learnt so much more than she thought she would.
