Elton John sent secret 10-word message to Kevin Spacey after scandal broke
Actor Kevin Spacey was visibly emotional as he discussed his friendship with Elton John and David Furnish on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
Kevin Spacey emotionally opens up about Elton John's support
Kevin Spacey became emotional as he recalled the support he has received from Elton John as he appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored on Tuesday night (June 11). The two time Oscar winner told Piers that Elton was the first person to email him after actor Anthony Rapp accused him of making sexual advances on him when he was aged 14.
Piers brought up that Elton testified on Kevin's behalf via videolink at his sexual assault trial in London. Kevin immediately teared up at the mention of the Rocket Man singer.
"You've actually just reminded me that Elton was the first email I got on October 30, 2017 after the Rapp story came out saying, 'we love you, whatever you need, we're here for you'. And Elton has been there and David had been there ever since.
"What's most interesting about the fact that they testified in the trial in the UK was that I didn't ask them. I told them a piece of information that one of the accusers had said about them, which was not true. And Elton and David said, 'Well, we have to testify'.
"And I was like, Are you kidding? No, we absolutely have to testify. We have to let the jury know that this individual is not telling the truth. And they insisted on it. That's the kind of friends that I have. That I've been very fortunate to have in my life," he wept.
When Piers enquired if Kevin had seen the couple since, he answered in the affirmative and said he gave them both "a big hug."
"It's an old cliche that you find out who your friends are when the chips are down, but you really have," Piers ruminated.
"Yes, but I also don't catastrophise about the people that I haven't heard from yet," Kevin acknowledged.
Admitting there were some people who had disappeared from his life, he said there were others who just took a while to get in touch.

"It took six months. It took a year. It took maybe two years. It took you know, seven years. I'm still hearing from people that I hadn't heard from, and I try not to decide what that means.
"Some people just don't know what to say," he pondered. "They don't know how to approach you. They're not sure you want to be approached.
"And so I continually find myself being very moved by people who take the time and to reach out and to find out how I'm doing often," he said.
