Kym Marsh breaks silence on Corrie return

Kym Marsh has announced that she is making moves in a new career away from acting in ITV's Coronation Street and presenting on Morning Live.

The actor, who is known for her role as Michelle Connor on the soap and Nicky in BBC's Waterloo Road, shared the news with her fans on Instagram. She posted a video of her in a recording studio as she captioned it, letting fans know of her new venture.

Kim wrote: "It’s 20 years since I last stepped into a recording studio but I had so much fun recording this track for @101dalmatiansuk. Our UK tour starts in just a few weeks so make sure you grab your tickets!"

Waterloo Road co-star James Burrows was among the first to respond to the post, writing in the comments: "This is just outstanding," alongside a string of clapping emojis. Some of her 614,000 fans were also delighted by the news.

One user wrote: "Kym this is awesome hun so pleased to see you really happy and enjoying yourself". Another added: "Amazing, so proud of you."

The musical embarks on a UK and Ireland tour, launching at the New Wimbledon Theatre this month (June) and it will come to Manchester's Palace Theatre for 11 dates between July 30 and August 10, with performances at 2pm and 7pm.

Kim originally announced the news on BBC's Morning Live back in April, as she told the Breakfast show hosts: "I am about to go off on tour and play Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians.

"I am so excited, it's really funny because everyone that knows me, including you, would say 'Kym's such a dog lover' so it's weird because obviously I have to pretend that I don't like the dogs.

"And the family are all excited, because obviously it's a very family show, if you're going to come to the theatre you can bring the kids, there's something for everyone."

Kim started her career as a singer back in 2001, when she won a place in the band Hear'Say as a result of appearing on the reality television series Popstars. The group, who were signed to Polydor Records, originally consisted of Danny Foster, Myleene Klass, Kym Marsh, Suzanne Shaw, and Noel Sullivan.
