ITV Coronation Street fans 'work out' who will expose Joel as Lauren's killer after clue

Coronation Street fans believe they know which character will expose Joel Deering. Wednesday's instalment (June 5) of the ITV soap saw Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) worrying about meeting Joel's parents for the first time.

Their dinner at the Bistro got off to a bumpy start, with Anthea (Carol Royle) making her dislike of Dee-Dee immediately clear.

Joel, who was recently revealed to be the killer of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), arrived late to the meal as he thanked Dee-Dee for looking after his parents.

Conversation turned to Dee-Dee's career, with Anthea asking her "what went wrong" after learning she left her job at a Los Angeles Law Firm in favour of one in Weatherfield. Things turned awkward for Dee-Dee when Anthea mentioned one of Joel's previous girlfriends, branding her a "real catch".

The couple were later introduced to Dee-Dee's father Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges), who explained he was a handyman. Anthea said: "I apologise. Backstreet practice or not, you've done very well for yourself."

"I beg your pardon," responded Dee-Dee as Anthea remarked: "Considering how you started." Tensions escalated as Dee-Dee hit back at Joel's parents, admitting she is proud of her father before leaving the meal.

Back at home, Joel apologised for his mother's behaviour and insisted she would eventually warm to Dee-Dee. He then shocked her as he got down on one knee, asking her to marry him.

A stunned Dee-Dee rejected Joel's proposal, telling him she wants their love to "deepen and grow," insisting she isn't ready yet. She turned to Ed and Michael for advice on whether she made the right decision, with her dad claiming it wasn't.

After Dee-Dee's rejection, Joel received a call from Ellie asking for money. He refused to hand anything over before demanding she get out of the car. Later, he met up with Dee-Dee who revealed she made a mistake, accepting his proposal after all.

The couple celebrated in The Rovers, however, one person not so keen to congratulate the couple was Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon). She said: "Each to their own I guess," after Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) informed her of their news.

Sarah claimed Bethany has a "downer" on Joel, to which she hit back: "No, Mother. What I've got is spidey senses," before glaring at the lawyer.

Viewers took to social media to share their thoughts, with some claiming Bethany will be the one to expose Joel. One wrote: "Bethany is onto Joel. She knows he’s a not right. Just be careful Beth."

A second penned: "Really hoping Bethany exposes Joel’s evil side before he does something bad to DeeDee…" Another agreed: "Yes Bethany knows he’s dodgy AF."

Echoing this, someone else posted: "Go on, Bethany, trust your gut. Bring the creep down." A fourth added: "Ooh Bethany is onto Joel. She’ll be bringing him down."
