A body language expert claimed Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes had been "acting fake" in their final public appearance together. The former This Morning hosts are allegedly seeking a divorce after calling it quits on their 14-year marriage.

Reportedly, the ITV presenters have not been seen together publically on a red carpet since the Tric Awards, at Grosvenor House Hotel in London, in 2022. Images captured on the evening showed Ruth and Eamonn, both 64, arriving together but leaving separately.

Taking a look at the tell-tale images, body language expert Judi James exclusively told Express.co.uk that it was "sad" to see them both acting "fake". Ms James said: "It's usually A-list American power couples, or in the UK, it's usually reality TV couples, making a living out of being a couple when they're clearly not. It's really quite sad to see Eamonn and Ruth acting the same on the red carpet on that evening."

She continued: "This is a couple that prides themselves on being frank, cynical, honest, and mature. And they're posing up as though they're a happy couple. But the horrendous rictus grins that they're wearing looks so fake, particularly Ruth’s smile.

"Ruth's actually making an active effort to present them as a really happy couple. She's got the hand on the chest, which is a gesture of sort of ownership. It's the kind of thing that Angelina Jolie was doing with Brad Pitt when they were happily married.

"She's even cocked her foot out here, so she looks besotted with Eamonn. And I find that quite sad, actually, because I thought they were going to be one of the couples that was against all of that kind of acting up for the camera."

Speaking about the images showing the former couple going their separate ways, after posing together on the red carpet, Judi said: "So we've got it really suddenly, Ruth's cheesy smile has dropped with her eyes looking very warily at the camera. She's using a barrier ritual, she's got a hand up, pulling a jacket together and looking quite defensive here.

"And Eamonn walking off by himself. I would say he was doing everything to look as dejected as possible - shoulders slumped, head down. When he has got his head up to the camera, he's performing a mouth clump gesture, which is sort of quietly suffering."

The expert continued: "There's this sort of fake presentation on the red carpet that they are a wonderful, glamorous power couple that are still very much in love. And then, you know how how the masks slip when they walked away? It’s quite sad coming from a couple like them really."

Judi thinks that the signs of Ruth and Eamonn's unhappiness could have been telling, even dating back to when they were on This Morning. She thinks that they used sarcasm, banter, and cynicism to mask their relationship problems.

The body language analyst said: "You get these sort of non-couple couples like Holly [Willoughby] and Phil [Schofield], who would always have to be gushing all over one another. So it was lovely to see a real couple who didn't give it all the gush and we would literally have a kind of slightly sarcastic and cynical-looking relationship.

"So that in a way, it allowed them to mask the fact that clearly there was not such a happy relationship going on behind the scenes. Ruth and Eamonn always looked wonderfully cynical anyway.

"It was a sort of signal that would either imply a very rich, material relationship between genuine people, or funnily enough, a couple that were at loggerheads with one another. It's actually a sign of strength in the relationship, but it's the same signal as somebody who might be on the verge of splitting up. They were able to mask it because they never did the lovey-dovey stuff on camera anyway."
