Just a few months before announcing they had split, Eamonn Holmes claimed that Ruth Langsford wouldn't want him "having any joy" in his life if she died before him in a resurfaced interview. The GB News presenter made the revelation while speaking to his wife's Loose Women colleague Coleen Nolan on her Let's Start Talking podcast in October last year.

The pair, who have one son together called Jack, were together for 27 years and married for 14 of those before they announced their impending divorce over the bank holiday weekend. In the podcast, he pondered on death.

"She'd hate to think that, well if she died first, that I'd be having any joy at all in my life," he cheekily revealed as Coleen creased up laughing. "If she goes, that's the end of all joy," he laughed.

During the chat, Eamonn also admitted that he and Ruth wouldn't be buried together, despite their separation being months off at this point. "We have a family plot in Belfast where my mum and dad are and there's room for four more others," he told Coleen.

"Ruth would rather be somewhere anonymous in Surrey. She wants to be cremated and I don't want to be cremated. She doesn't care – she's not religious, and she's not interested in sentimentality," he ruminated.

The former This Morning hosts tied the knot in 2010 after 13 years together in a luxury ceremony at The Elvetham hotel, Hampshire.

They share their son Jack, 22, together while Eamonn has two sons, Declan and Niall, and a daughter, Rebecca, from his previous marriage.

The news of their split sent shockwaves thoughout the showbiz world as they were widely believed to have a solid relationship.

However, speculation surrounding a split first emerged earlier this year after fans voiced concern they hadn't shared a photo together in quite some time.

The former couple first met in London in 1995 while Eamonn was presenting GMTV and their mutual friend, TV presenter Sally Meen, introduced them.

Eamonn had only recently gotten out of his previous marriage, so they initally took their new romance very slowly.

They became one of the pairs of hosts of This Morning in 2006, before leaving the show in December 2021.

While Ruth continued to work at ITV on Loose Women, Eamonn moved on to pastures new at GB News.

Despite their split, Ruth seemingly continued to show support for Eamonn and issued a statement on his health just days before the announcement.
