With its stunning coastline, vibrant culture and warm weather all year round it is no wonder why Gran Canaria is one of the most popular beach destinations.

The island can get incredibly busy especially with Brits looking for some winter sun. However, if you want to escape the hustle and bustle there is one Gran Canaria secret beach that you must pay a visit to.

Playa de las Mujeres otherwise known as Pasito Bea is located between the popular large beaches of Maspalomas and Arguineguin.

Pasito Bea beach was the traditional bathing spot for the women who worked in the fields nearby.

Despite its turquoise water and fine sand it is one of the quietest in south Gran Canaria and is often empty on weekdays offering a local feel with none or few tourists.

It is the place where Canarian people go to enjoy the southern sunshine, but without the long lines of sun loungers or the crowds of Maspalomas beach which is only a five minute drive away.

Hidden behind the hills that separate the beach from the road,  the beach offers a relaxing tranquil experience. Pasito Bea is only about 10 minutes walk from the road and is easy to get down to.

As there are not many people, nudism is allowed but it's also popular with locals who like to keep their swimming costumes on. The west end of the beach is the nudist corner.

Although the beach is only 100 metres long, it is wide and pebble free with the water almost always clear.

Its fine sand varies between golden and volcanic depending on the tides and the light, but the water here is almost always clear

It is not officially a dog friendly beach, but Pasito Bea is very popular among dog owners — so you may find dogs enjoying the gorgeous coast.

Be sure to take food and drink as there's no shops or facilities within walking distance.
