As well as cheap beer, food is is also budget friendly and transport costs to get around the city can be as low as 50p.

Data from Numbeo finds that a one-way ticket on local transport will set you back just over 50p, whilst taxis average out at around 52p per km – this is compared to London’s average of £1.92 per km.
You can also get relatively cheap and direct flights from the UK, with flights going for as little as around £100, according to Skyscanner.
There are also plenty of cheap and cheerful hotels in the city - some for as little as £24 per night.
Bucharest is also a hidden gem with very few tourists compared to some other European cities, however, as it becomes more popular on social media, prices could be seen to start creeping up.
