Kate Middleton and Prince William leave Canada in 2016
Kate Middleton, 36, travels with her husband Prince William, 36, in the name of the crown.
The pair have visited many countries to promote good relations such as Australia, India and Canada.
It was during their Canadian tour in 2016, joined by Prince George and Princess Charlotte, that she took a number of specific items with her to travel.
She packed the items into her clutch bag to help her along the way.
According to Marcia Moody’s 2013 novel, Kate: A Biography, she carried some beauty items that many women often choose to have with them.
She explained she had a “compact mirror, blotting paper, a handkerchief and lip balm”.
While she would not use them in public, they are useful to have in private.
Blotting paper can remove oil and shine, something important when having photographs taken by the paparazzi.
Lip balm and a compact mirror would be useful to keep herself looking neat and tidy.
Kate isn’t the only royal to also keep a handkerchief with herself at all times
Kate isn’t the only royal to also keep a handkerchief with her at all times.
Prince Philip often has a white handkerchief in his breast pocket, while Queen Elizabeth has been spotted with Burberry one in her coat.
According to the Telegraph, there are strict handkerchief rules: “Plain white with a Royal motif for daytime occasions."
For less formal occasions, "a tartan number for the country," is appropriate.
A handkerchief is considered good etiquette to have, especially for the upper class since the Victorian era.

While they don’t often use tissues, Kleenex manufacturer Kimberly-Clark has held a Royal Warrant since 1978.
The Duchess of Cambridge has also always used a Globe Trotter branded suitcase, something most of the Royal Family use when travelling.
The iconic British brand was first used by Queen Elizabeth and Philip during their honeymoon, with many family members using them since.
Meghan Markle has not yet been spotted with one, although she has previously used American branded suitcases by Ghurka.
Based on the British Ghurka uniform, their iconic designs have been used by the ex-actress before she met Prince Harry.
