Kyrie Irving to LEAVE Celtics: Shock development puts Knicks ahead of Lakers
KYRIE IRVING has a "low" probability of re-signing with the Boston Celtics this summer and hasn't ruled out joining the New York Knicks in free agency.
NBA: Kyrie Irving looks 'miserable' at Celtics says expert
That's according to a report from SNY, which suggests Irving's time in Boston has come to an end.
There is little under a month until NBA free agency opens with a number of the league's best players potentially becoming available.
For the Celtics, their full focus will be on retaining Irving.
It was a disappointing campaign for Boston this past season, fraught with team chemistry issues and culminating with them getting knocked out of the playoffs in the second round.
All season long there were rumours of Irving being frustrated with the Celtics, causing tension in the locker room.
Celtics GM Danny Ainge has made it clear that, despite the clear unrest from the past season, that he wants to bring Irving back.
And he states the 27-year-old hasn't indicated to him anything other than returning to Boston next season.
However, SNY report it is extremely unlikely that Irving will re-sign in Boston.
The report goes on to suggest the six-time All-Star is strongly considering a move to the Knicks.
New York will be hoping to pair Irving with another top free agent.
And Kevin Durant has been strongly linked with a move to New York.
The Knicks are also touted as one of the favourites to strike a deal to trade for Anthony Davis.
