Harry Kane: England captain moves two clear of Lukaku and Ronaldo in World Cup golden boot
HARRY KANE has moved two clear in World Cup golden boot race after scoring from the penalty spot against Colombia.
From an England corner, Kane was hauled to the ground by former Aston Villa man Carlos Sanchez.
And after a long delay due to Colombian complaints, Kane finally stepped up and placed his penalty down the middle and past the dive of David Ospina.
Kane’s goal puts him on six for the World Cup and made him the first player to score in six consecutive England appearances since Tommy Lawton in 1939.
Romelu Lukaku is Kane’s nearest threat with four.
Cristiano Ronaldo is also on four goals but is unable to add to his tally after Portugal were knocked out by Uruguay.
Ex-England winger Chris Waddle said: “I don't think the referee is having a good game but he got that decision right.
“David Ospina has dived early and Harry Kane has placed it straight down the middle. England deserve it but the referee is spoiling the game.”
