Liverpool transfer news: Steve McManaman warns Jurgen Klopp over signing World Cup star
LIVERPOOL should not sign Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel this summer because he is not good enough.
World Cup: Peter Schmeichel celebrates son's save for Denmark
That is the opinion of former Liverpool midfielder and ESPN FC pundit Steve McManaman.
Schmeichel has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past.
And the bookies have the Reds as favourites to land his signature, ahead of Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Schmeichel was on the losing side at the World Cup on Sunday night, despite saving three penalties, including two in a shootout, with Croatia triumphing over Denmark in the last-16 clash.
Nope. I don’t think he’s good enough
ESPN presenter Dan Thomas quizzed the panel over which club Schmeichel will be playing at next term.
“Which club do you see Kasper Schmeichel at next season?,” Thomas asked.
McManaman simply replied: “Leicester.”
Thomas then pressed McManaman about Liverpool, who are in the market for a goalkeeper.
“Would you want him at Liverpool Macca?,” Thomas said.
But McManaman does not think the 31-year-old is the answer between the sticks for Jurgen Klopp.
“Nope. I don’t think he’s good enough,” he concluded.
Schmeichel made 36 appearances for Leicester in all competitions last season.
