Jamie Carragher has been left embarrassed after Liverpool were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest at the weekend - as Roy Keane was proven right. Arne Slot suffered his first defeat of the Premier League season on Saturday after Callum Hudson-Odoi struck in the 72nd minute to give Forest a late lead, and three points to take back to the City Ground.

This loss came as a surprise to ex-Liverpool defender Carragher, who was adamant the Reds would win 2-0 with ease. Speaking on The Overlap podcast before the match, Carragher was giving his predictions for the weekend matches and claimed Liverpool could even "rest" some of their key players in their game against Forest.

When asked for the score, the 46-year-old said: " Liverpool Forest. Two-nil, probably rest a couple of people for Milan."

Ex-Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane joked: "He loves two-nils!"

Carragher then added: "They're in control of it a bit more, it's slower and it's just get to two-nil after an hour." Keane then quipped: "Trent could get a hat-trick if he's higher up the pitch."

The former Liverpool star then confirmed his prediction, noting: "Two-nil, probably make a couple of changes for Milan."

Keane then made his thoughts clear for the game, stating that he believes that Liverpool will win - but they will also concede for the first time this season. He said: "3-1, I think Gibbs-White will score."

Carragher was quick to remind Keane that the Merseyside team were yet to leak goal in the new Premier League campaign, with 2-0 wins over Ipswich Town and Brentford - and a 3-0 thrashing over Manchester United.

The 46-year-old said: "Liverpool haven't conceded a goal yet, you know." Keane was quick to respond, joking: "Exactly, so that means they will concede one."

The former United star's words were a foreshadowing of what was to come, as Hudson-Odoi struck late in the second half to secure a 1-0 win over the Reds - meaning they drop to fourth in the Premier League table.

Liverpool will come up against AC Milan in a midweek Champions League game at the San Siro Stadium, before returning to Anfield to take on Bournmouth on Saturday, September 21.
