The 24-year-old has already scored two impressive long-range strikes since his move to north London against Hull and Nottingham Forest.
And he has now revealed he has been inspired by Arsenal legend Vieira.
In a Twitter Q&A with supporters, Xhaka said: “Well there are a lot of legends at this club, so I wouldn’t want to highlight one but if I have to I’d go for Patrick Vieira.
“He played in my position, so that’s why I’ll select him.”

Vieira won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups during his time in north London, and was part of the the Invincibles side which went through a season unbeaten in 2003/04.
Xhaka added he is convinced he made the right move in signing for Arsenal this summer.
“I’m really enjoying it here,” the Switzerland international said.
