Italian media claim Inter are trying to convince Mourinho, 53, to replace Mancini as manager at the end of the season.
Express Sport understands Mourinho has already agreed terms with Manchester United to become their new boss this summer.
The former Chelsea head coach is in Milan for a meeting with president Massimo Moratti and will be in the stands when Inter host Sampdoria tomorrow.
The club have slipped to fifth, 12 points off leaders Juventus and four behind third-place Fiorentina for the final Champions League qualification spot.
“It's a delicate moment and even a game against the youth team would be difficult," Mancini said when discussing 17th-place Sampdoria.
"We're facing a struggling Samp and the game won't be simple."
