Manchester United's dismal start to the Premier League season has left Erik ten Hag searching for answers. Fortunately for the Dutchman, an international break presents an opportunity for him to devise a plan to navigate his side out of a messy situation.

Ten Hag has proved that he can improve results, having endured a similarly awful start in 2022-23 before embarking on a run that ultimately saw the Red Devils finish third and win the Carabao Cup. But backed with a £200million summer spend, there is far more pressure this time around.

The United boss may even be able to make use of the transfer market, especially if he believes there is a free agent who can improve his team.

Joshua Zirkzee impresses for the Netherlands

Joshua Zirkzee impressed on his debut for the Netherlands in their 5-2 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Nations League this evening.

The United star opened the scoring at the Philips Stadion with a header from close range in the 13th minute before assisting Tijjani Reijnder’s goal on the cusp of half-time.

Zirkzee linked up play well and almost assisted a second goal late on as the Dutch ran riot in an emphatic display.

Newcastle plotting United raid

Newcastle are reportedly planning to pursuit Manchester United forward Antony next summer.

The Magpies pushed to sign Anthony Elanga from Manchester United on deadline day, and Eddie Howe’s side have now drawn up a plan in case a move for the winger is not possible.

According to Caught Offside, Newcastle are ‘ready’ to push for Antony if they are not able to secure the signature of Elanga.

United signed the Brazilian for £86million previously but would reportedly be open to striking a deal to sell the forward for £40m, with Howe keen to work with Antony in 2025.

Red Devils join Tottenham in transfer race

Manchester United will face competition from Tottenham in the race to sign Lecce star Patrick Dorgu, reports HITC.

Both sides are said to be keen on the Denmark international and have shortlisted him as a target for 2025.

The Red Devils are in the market for a new left-back due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s recurring injury problems.

Dorgu also has suitors elsewhere in Europe though, with Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid monitoring his situation closely.

United duo start for England

Lee Carsley has named Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire in his starting eleven for his first match as England interim boss.

The Three Lions are set to face Ireland this evening in the Nations League, and Erik ten Hag will be hoping the duo come through the international break without sustaining any injury troubles.

Maguire will be partnering with Marc Guehi in centre-back, with Levi Colwill being tasked with playing as a makeshift left-back.

Joshua Zirkzee plays secret agent in Jamal Musiala pursuit

Joshua Zirkzee asked Jamal Musiala to join Man Utd in the summer.

The pair are close friends after their time together at Bayern Munich and holidayed together in the USA.

One fan asked Zirkzee to persuade Musiala to make the move to Old Trafford - and the Bayern star has now revealed it actually happened.

Musiala told Bild: “You always joke around with friends and dream of playing together in a team one day. The jokes go both ways: I also told Josh that he should come back to Bayern. But you shouldn’t take that too seriously.”

Man Utd vs Celtic underway

We're 20 minutes into the Man Utd legends' match against Celtic.

It's goalless so far.

The United team is below...

Man Utd legends face Celtic

A Man Utd legends team will face Celtic this afternoon.

Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick are among the players set to take part.

The match, which will take place at Old Trafford, kicks off at 2pm.

Who do Man Utd play next?

The international break affords Erik ten Hag some time to plan how he will improve Man Utd's form.

Premier League football returns next weekend.

The Red Devils travel to Southampton in Saturday's early kick off.

Antony exit stance emerges

Antony is reportedly determined to stay at Man Utd.

The Brazilian winger has been linked with a departure amid his struggle for consistency at Old Trafford.

Fenerbahce have been linked with a loan move.

However, the Mirror reports that Antony is keen to fight for his future at United.

Forgotten Man Utd prospect in line for England debut

Angel Gomes was once the cream of Man Utd's academy.

He made his debut aged 16 and was expected to be a key part of the Red Devils' long-term future.

But the midfielder's development stalled and he rejected a new deal to sign for Lille in 2020.

The 24-year-old has since excelled in France and is in the England squad for the first time.

He could make his debut against Ireland this evening.

Adrien Rabiot transfer update

Adrien Rabiot is reportedly 'tempted' by a move to Manchester United.

The midfielder remains a free agent after leaving Juventus at the end of last season.

United are reportedly considering free agent moves after a disappointing start to the season, during which Erik ten Hag's midfielders have struggled.

According to Mundo Deportivo, United are one of the clubs Rabiot is 'tempted' to join.

The France international, 29, also has interest from AC Milan, Galatasaray and Al-Nassr.

Harry Maguire set for England return

Man Utd star Harry Maguire is reportedly set to start England's Nations League clash with Ireland on Saturday.

Maguire missed Euro 2024 with a calf injury but has started two of United's first three matches this season.

According to The Athletic, the 31-year-old will return to the England starting 11 against Ireland, potentially playing alongside Marc Guehi and Levi Colwill in a back three.

Antony urged to leave Man Utd

Antony has been urged to leave Man Utd by former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor.

The ex-England international believes the Brazilian has been a “shambles” following his £86m switch from Ajax in 2022.

Antony has been linked with a switch to Fenerbahce, where Jose Mourinho is rumoured to be interested in signing the 24-year-old.

“He’s been a bit of a shambles hasn’t he, let’s be honest,” Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT.

“He needs to move. He’s not going to get any game time at Manchester United and they’re going to lose so much money the day they sell him.

“He’s not even worth half of what they bought him for at the moment.

“The whole thing, him being signed and his performance in the Premier League – it’s a shambles.”

Man Utd's Alphonso Davies belief emerges

Man Utd have reportedly joined the race to sign Alphonso Davies as a free agent next summer.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal are also understood to be interested in a move for the Bayern Munich left-back.

However, HITC reports that all three Premier League clubs believe Davies has already made his decision and wants to join Real.

The 23-year-old has long been linked with a switch to Los Blancos.

Man Utd can still seal four transfers

Manchester United can still complete four pieces of business despite the transfer window closing over a week ago.

Some countries' windows remain open, allowing United to shift some of their deadwood.

Meanwhile, Premier League teams can sign free agents with several high-profile stars still without clubs.

Galatasaray have been strongly linked with Casemiro, while Turkish rivals Fenerbahce are reported to have enquired about Antony.

Both deals can still go ahead as Turkish clubs have until September 13 to complete their business.

According to TeamTalk, the door remains 'open' for United to sign Adrien Rabiot as a free agent.

HITC claim that attacking midfielder Yusuf Yazici, who last played for Lille, has been offered to the Red Devils.
