Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have laid out five golden rules for Erik ten Hag or a new head coach to adhere to at Manchester United from this summer onwards, according to reports. United's new co-owners are weighing up Ten Hag's future while simultaneously drawing up plans to restore the club's status at the summit of world football.

INEOS were expected to sack the Dutchman following the FA Cup final last Saturday following disastrous Premier League and Champions League campaigns.

However, a shock 2-1 win against Manchester City to lift a second major trophy in as many years has left the club on cloud nine and subsequently boosted Ten Hag's chances of staying put.

The Old Trafford hierarchy have been completing due diligence but won't replace Ten Hag if there isn't an upgrade available on the market.

And in the background, Ratcliffe and his new-look team of higher-ups have been reportedly working to establish an updated culture to help transform the club.

According to The Sun, United will no longer look to make 'Galacticos' signings and instead focus on building with lower-profile, higher-potential players.

Around £1.5billion has been splashed on signings over the 11 years since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. Big-money flops include Antony, Jadon Sancho, Angel di Maria and Romelu Lukaku.

Ratcliffe is also said to be keen on introducing a new recruitment policy that involves exclusively targeting players under the age of 25.

It's claimed that United want to bring five new names in that age bracket this summer to help mould a fitter, more athletic team.

Ten Hag, or a new appointment, is expected to become the club's inaugural head coach next term rather than a manager, focusing on training sessions and team selection more than anything else.

New technical director Jason Wilcox will reportedly lead the decision on a desired style of play throughout all levels of the club.

He will be joined in the decision-making process by incoming chief executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Dan Ashworth.

And the report adds United's sporting structure will no longer allow the head coach to identify his individual transfer targets.

Ten Hag has had significant power in doing so since his 2022 arrival, recruiting multiple players from the Dutch Eredivisie.

But, as the final rule, the head coach will now reportedly be asked which positions he wants to strengthen before being recommended three options that fit United's game model.
