Darts star Luke Littler has enjoyed a tremendous start to 2024, and his earnings have seen him pocket more than Kobbie Mainoo will earn at Manchester United this season.

The 17-year-old has taken the world of darts by storm since bursting onto the scene at the Darts World Championships in January, quickly asserting himself as one of the best in the business and raising the overall profile of the sport.

Littler’s rise to fame has shown no signs of slowing since, winning the Premier League last week in sensational style, fending off the challenge of world No. 1 Luke Humphries to land the spoils and pocket the £250,000 prize money in a moment that saw the teen become overwhelmed with emotion after securing the victory.

The Nuke earned a total of £303,500 for all of his efforts at the oche prior to his Premier League success, according to the PDC order of merit, and his earnings have now soared further than even the breakout star could have imagined in his debut year.

Littler has therefore earned a whopping £578,500 after his Premier League victory, trumping the amounts earned by some of the footballers that he has cheered on throughout the season.

Erik ten Hag’s side bowed out of an underwhelming 2023/24 campaign with a victory in the FA Cup final over Manchester City to give supporters a reason to celebrate, with Alejandro Garnacho and Mainoo both on the score sheet for the Red Devils.

Despite playing such a pivotal role for a club the size of United, Littler appears to have already earned more than Mainoo this year. According to Sportac, the England international is on a £10,000 per week contract and will therefore earn a total of £520,000 this year.

Mainoo is expected to pen a new deal with the Red Devils this summer to reward him for taking to life in the Premier League like a duck to water and injecting much-needed quality to United’s midfield ranks, despite lacking the experience of his teammates in that department.

His new salary could see his new yearly salary trump Littler’s current yearly earnings, though the darts star will be hoping to collect further winnings in July when he competes in the World Matchplay, with £200,000 up for grabs.
