Arsenal could face a nightmare five-game run if they dump their quarter-final opponents Bayern Munich out of the Champions League. Friday’s Champions League draw pitted Arsenal up against the Bundesliga champions. Mikel Arteta’s side will hope to get revenge on the team who beat them 10-2 on aggregate in their last meeting in 2017.
The Gunners will receive a huge boost in the first leg with Bayern Munich fans banned from the Emirates after travelling Bayern fans threw fireworks onto the pitch during their last-16 tie with Lazio.
After the initial excitement of the draw, Arsenal fans were quick to point out that if they are to triumph against their German opponents they will have a nightmare run-in before the end of the season.
In the space of just five games they would travel to both arch rivalsTottenham HotspurandManchester United, as well as a potential Champions League semi-final clash against Pep Guardiola’sManchester Cityor 14-time European championsReal Madrid.
Arsenal would hostBournemouthat the Emirates, sandwiched between the two Champions League ties. Although the Cherries fixture may appear more winnable - with Arsenal recordinga 4-0victory at the Vitality Stadium in September - beating Iraola’s men is no mean feat. His side recorded a famous3-0 win at Old Trafford earlier this season.

Arsenal are looking to win their firstPremier Leaguetrophy in 20 years and to bring the Champions League trophy tonorth London for the veryfirsttime.
Their challenging end of season run could make that task even harder. A derby trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in May 2022 saw Arteta’s side capitulate under pressure, as they surrendered the final Champions League spot to theirnorth London rivals.
Pressure will only increase with a possible Champions League final fixture on the line. The Gunners have not reached that showpiece since 2006, when Wenger’s sidelost by one goal toBarcelona.
Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League, level on points with Liverpool. They have won every single league game in 2024, an eight game run stretching back to New Year's Eve.
