Manchester United have reportedly identified three positions they plan to strengthen in Sir Jim Ratcliffe's first summer as co-owner. The Red Devils' new-look sporting structure will get to work at the end of the season, starting a quest to mend a decade full of underwhelming recruitment under the INEOS banner.
It remains to be seen whether Erik ten Hag will remain manager beyond a disappointing second campaign amid suggestions that Ratcliffe is keen to start afresh.
But the 71-year-old billionaire has made it clear that the club's decisions, from now on, will go through a streamlined operation.
That will include himself and his INEOS chiefs, but more prominently, incoming chief executive Omar Berrada and a new sporting director, likely Newcastle United's Dan Ashworth.
Whoever is in the dugout for Ratcliffe's first full season overseeing United's sporting strategy will, of course, also be included in discussions over signings.
The club are reportedly keen to bolster three positions this summer, and these could be viewed as priority areas to address.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United have decided to sign a new left-back, centre-back and striker in the summer transfer window.

Ten Hag has two senior left-backs at his disposal - Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia - but both will likely miss the remainder of the season through injury.
Malacia, the Dutchman's first signing in a £13million deal from Feyenoord in 2022, suffered his knee problem in pre-season before a botched surgery extended his spell on the sidelines.
United plan to recruit a young left-back who can challenge Shaw for a starting berth - regardless of Malacia's status.
A centre-back is also guaranteed to arrive. Raphael Varane looks primed to leave on a free transfer, while Jonny Evans is also out of contract in June.
Question marks hover over Harry Maguire's future despite a welcome resurgence this term, and Victor Lindelof is entering the final year of his deal after United triggered a 12-month extension.
