Postecoglou offers insight into Tottenham's January transfer plans
Tottenham are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Chelsea over Conor Gallagher as they look to poach the England midfielder in January for a fee of £40million. Gallagher has captained the Blues on several occasions this season, but that has not stopped Todd Boehly and co from entering talks to sell the 23-year-old to their London rivals.
Di Marzio claim that talks are underway between the two clubs as Spurs are attempting to reach an agreement with Mauricio Pochettino's outfit on a potential £40m deal for Gallagher.
Chelsea are willing to discuss the prospect of losing the midfielder even though he has started 18 Premier League games this season, as his contract expires at the end of the next campaign.
They have been unable to agree terms on a new contract with Gallagher and run the risk of losing him for nothing in 2025 when they can make £40m of pure profit on a player that came through their famed Cobham academy.

Gallagher is said to be a very popular target among Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou and his staff, who are currently fighting an injury crisis off the back of their 4-2 defeat away to Brighton on Thursday.
Gallagher could be expected to compete with Pape Matar Sarr alongside James Maddison and Yves Bissouma in the all-action Spurs midfield when those options are all available to Postecoglou.

Various reports have suggested that the two clubs are close on an agreement for Gallagher as Pochettino could lose a key component of his team during a disappointing start to his reign at Stamford Bridge.
The Argentine boss recently stated his desire for the club to keep Gallagher, who wears the captain's armband once again for the trip to Luton on Saturday in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell.
“That is between the club and the player," Pochettino said when asked for an update on Gallagher's contract. "I don’t need to talk too much because it is not my decision. He is in the starting eleven in nearly all the games and is one of the captains. For me, he is the type of player that the club needs to have.”
