Manchester United appear to be nearing the end of their transfer business before they kick off their Premier League campaign against Wolves on Monday in what would be a welcome change for Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils have already spent around £179million on three signings and with one or two new arrivals in the pipeline, the Dutchman will be satisfied with how their summer has gone so far.
Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund have been snapped up by the Red Devils, with all three improving the spine of Ten Hag's team, with Mount and Onana set to face Wolves on Monday while Hojlund recovers from injury.
But squad additions will be required before the end of the month if United are to keep apace with the Premier League's top sides as Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal search for new reinforcements in the final weeks of the window.
United know they need to sell off some of their fringe players first to raise funds after their hopes of completing a takeover with Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe were effectively dashed by the Glazers, and they could still decide to use the next two and a half weeks to further improve their squad with a centre-back and midfielder still wanted.

Donny van de Beek's prospective move to Ajax may not be exactly what Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag is after.
The cost-cutting Dutch giants are having to watch the pennies after missing out on Champions League qualification for this season, so a loan move for Van de Beek is the most viable option.
But Ten Hag is surely keen for United to cash in on the midfielder so that he can go after Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat, who is valued at £26million.

Manchester United are delaying Harry Maguire's move to West Ham as negotiations continue over his pay-off.
The centre-back is due to receive millions from the Red Devils as he prepares to take a massive salary cut at the London Stadium.
And according to The Guardian, that is the element holding up the deal as a £30million fee and personal terms have already been agreed with the Hammers.
Erik ten Hag has suggested that Dean Henderson will stay at Manchester United beyond this summer.
The goalkeeper spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and almost returned to the City Ground during the current transfer window.
But exits and failed transfer sagas have left Ten Hag relatively light between the sticks, meaning he is likely to stay with Henderson as No 2, Andre Onana first choice and Tom Heaton as back-up.
"[Henderson] was always in my mind," stated Ten Hag. "I think we have a strong ’keeper group with Onana, Heaton and Henderson."
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag believes that Harry Maguire should leave the club once he no longer has the confidence to prove that he is top class.
The England international is the subject of a £30million bid from West Ham, which has been accepted by the Red Devils.
"He has the ability to be a top-class centre-back," said Ten Hag. "He is the best for England so why shouldn't he be the best for us?
"But he has to prove it. When he is not confident enough to fight then he has to go, then he has to make a decision. But I'm happy with him."

Manchester United and Newcastle United are going head-to-head for the signing of Northern Irish wonderkid Coran Madden.
The 14-year-old, who currently plays for Cliftonville, can feature across the front-line or in attacking midfield.
His current coach claims that a host of Premier League clubs have made contact, but Madden chose to undergo trials at United and Newcastle.
"Those clubs sold their vision to Coran and his family," said Cliftonville head of youth Marc Smyth. "All we can do is guide them in terms of what we think would be good for the boy and the family.
"Manchester United and Newcastle United are massive clubs, and spoke well with the family and wanted to bring them over."
Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag claims that Mason Mount and Andre Onana are in a 'good place' ahead of his side's Premier League opener against Wolves.
The duo could make their Premier League debuts for the Red Devils after completing moves from Chelsea and Inter Milan respectively.
Fellow new arrival Rasmus Hojlund will have to wait until he recovers from injury.
"I think they [Mount and Onana] are in a good place," Ten Hag told club media. "And it's definitely an advantage when Mason was in from the start, [in the] first session [of pre-season] he was there."
"Andre came in, we were just in the USA, came into the team and then the tour. So, you are so intense, you live together and then you know each other very quick. So that's a big advantage. They are there."
Frenkie de Jong has ruled out the possibility of speculation about a potential transfer to Manchester United.
Speaking to El Periodico, De Jong has confirmed that he wants to spend the rest of his career at Barcelona.
He said: “Barca is the club of my life. I want to spend my whole life here. I never wanted to leave despite the financial situation of the club last summer.
“I’ve always been a Barca fan since I was a kid. This is the club of my dreams.”

Manchester United have confirmed Fred has completed his transfer to Fenerbahce.
The 30-year-old midfielder is said to have moved to Turkey in a deal worth £13m.
A club statement ended: "The 30-year-old leaves so many positive memories from his time at Old Trafford, where he has been a hugely popular individual, both as a person and as a player.
"Everybody at the club would like to wish the very best of luck to Fred for the future."
Manchester United flop Donny van de Beek could be set to return to Ajax some three years after his £35m move to Old Trafford.
The Netherlands international looks set to leave the club this summer and was poised to join Real Sociedad on loan before the La Liga outfit withdrew their interest.
The Sun now claim Van de Beek could head back to his native Netherlands with Ajax in a similar temporary switch.
Frenkie de Jong has claimed he never wanted to leave Barcelona despite strong interest from Chelsea and Manchester United last summer and has expressed his desire to stay at the club for the rest of his career.
The Dutchman looked to be on the verge of a £70m move to Old Trafford before the Red Devils pulled out of the deal and signed Casemiro instead.
The 25-year-old says he was glad to stay despite being forced to take a massive wage cut.
“Barca is the club of my life,” De Jong told El Periodico. “I want to spend my whole life here, I never wanted to leave despite the financial situation of the club last summer.
“I’ve always been a Barca fan since I was a kid. This is the club of my dreams.”
Real Sociedad have cooled their interest in signing Donny van de Beek on loan from Manchester United after deciding to focus on other targets, according to reports in the Basque region.
Mundo Deportivo's Gipuzkoa edition reports the Dutchman is no longer the focus of their recruitment, with Dynamo Moscow's Arsen Zakharyan now their top target.
It means the 26-year-old faces being stranded at Old Trafford as he is well down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag.
However, the departure of Fred and Scott McTominay's potential exit could boost his chances of regular minutes this season.
Harry Maguire has moved a step closer to sealing his £30m transfer to West Ham after agreeing personal terms in principle with the Hammers.
It was believed that there was an issue holding up the deal for Maguire to head to the London Stadium regarding his salary, with the centre-back required to take a pay cut.
But Sky Sports News have reported the issue has been resolved and Maguire's move is now expected to gather pace over the coming days.
United are in talks with Bayern Munich to sign France international Benjamin Pavard as a replacement.
West Ham are preparing an audacious move to sign Anthony Martial
The Frenchman will have to settle for a bit-part role moving forward after Rasmus Hojlund was signed for £72m from Atalanta this summer.
Martial has only scored 11 goals in his last 51 Premier League appearances and the 27-year-old could be offloaded to raise funds to spend elsewhere.
According to talkSPORT, the Hammers are keen on signing Martial, having seen their bid for Harry Maguire accepted. However, the east London side must improve their offer for Scott McTominay after their proposal was turned down.
Manchester United could hit pause on their pursuit of Benjamin Pavard as West Ham may abort their plans to sign Harry Maguire.
The Hammers have reportedly offered the England international a £120,000-a-week contract after striking a £30m agreement with United.
But the 30-year-old is currently earning a £190k weekly wage at Old Trafford and is reluctant to accept a wage cut, report The Sun.
And if they cannot agree a deal, David Moyes will target Bayer Leverkusen's Odilon Koussonou, which could impact United in their chase for Bayern Munich star Pavard.
Manchester United's move for Sofyan Amrabat looks to be back on after the midfielder reportedly agreed personal terms with the Premier League club.
The 26-year-old was thought to be considering his options as United stalled over submitting a bid to Fiorentina, with Al-Ahli and Juventus both circling.
But according to Alfredo Pedulla, speaking to MUFC Realist TV, Amrabat has agreed a four-year deal worth £75,000 a week.
All that is left now is for United to agree a fee with the Italian club, with their demands likely to be around £34.5m (€40m).
Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy has bid farewell to midfielder Fred after he completed his move to Turkish side Fenerbahce.
The Brazilian has sealed his £12.9m switch to the Super Lig outfit after he was pictured flying to Istanbul on Saturday.
The 30-year-old uploaded a post to his Twitter and Instagram, thanking the club for helping him realise his 'dream'.
And he was clearly a popular figure inside the dressing room as United coach Benni McCarthy wrote in response: “I’ll miss you a lot.”
