Spurs appear to have ditched their pursuit of Brentford’s David Raya, perhaps persuaded to place their efforts elsewhere after being quoted £40m for the Spaniard.

Postecoglou could start the season with a bloated defensive quota, largely made up of young players. The likes of Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie will hope for breakthrough years at the club.
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is also rumoured to be of interest to Spurs amid ongoing uncertainty over the England man’s future. With Spurs struggling for home-grown players to fill the Premier League requirement of eight, Maguire could be an important addition.

Spurs have not been linked with too many midfielders, which seems strange given their lack of quality depth in the position. Antonio Conte played with just two central midfielders, but Postecoglou tended to favour a three-man midfield at Celtic.
Oliver Skipp was one of few players who made a positive impression towards the end of last season, while Pape Matar Sarr might expect increased minutes next term. Yves Bissouma will hope to prove his worth while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s energy should suit the new coach’s style.
It remains unclear whether Harry Kane will stay at Spurs this summer. This squad looks at what might happen should the England captain depart, with Man United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich all reportedly interested.
The perfect replacement for Kane would be Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who struck 26 Serie A goals last season. A deal would be difficult to do but if Kane leaves, Spurs will have a lot of money to play with. Jadon Sancho could also be prised from United, especially if the Red Devils offer the winger in exchange for Kane.
