Tottenham reportedly have five defenders on their radar as they seek to upgrade Ange Postecoglou's leaky backline. Although Spurs had several barren spells in front of goal last season, there is an appreciation they will also have to tighten up defensively if they are to be successful under their new Aussie boss.
The futures of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez remain in doubt - among others - and Tottenham are now actively shopping for upgrades after Clement Lenglet also returned to Barcelona following his loan spell.
According to 90min, Edmond Tapsoba, Harry Maguire, Aymeric Laporte, Marc Guehi and Max Kilman are among the names on their wish-list.
Tottenham appear to have ramped up their interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Tapsoba in the past few days.
Spurs are now exploring the conditions for a deal for the Burkina Faso international, who Leverkusen are unlikely to sell for a cut-price due to his eye-catching displays in the Bundesliga.

Arsenal have also been scouting the centre-back in recent months and now Spurs look ready to formalise their interest.
Yet there are plenty of other candidates in the mix including England defender Maguire, who is expected to depart Manchester United this summer.
Tottenham have already been firmly linked to Maguire but they are yet to follow that up with an offer.
Man City treble-winner Laporte is expected to leave the club this summer as he seeks to pursue regular football.
