Manchester United are set to miss out on their latest transfer target, with Brighton and Hove Albion reportedly on the verge of signing Bart Verbruggen. Erik ten Hag is said to have been interested in the Anderlecht goalkeeper, but his summer frustrations will likely continue.

The Dutchman has already suffered two setbacks in pursuit of his top transfer targets in a chaos-infused start to United's summer.
Uncertainty over the Glazers' sale has left transfer plans in limbo, despite the club stressing that it's business as usual.
Ten Hag wanted Harry Kane as his priority target in search of a new goalscorer. But Tottenham Hotspur's refusal to sell to a direct rival led to United walking away early.
The Red Devils have also been turned off by Atalanta's inflated £86million valuation of Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund.

United are currently believed to be focusing on Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount after seeing a £40m bid rejected last week.
The Old Trafford giants are preparing an improved offer worth around £50m for the 24-year-old, who is out of contract next summer.
There is also the question mark dangling over De Gea's future at the club, and the solution should determine how much of Ten Hag's budget goes toward a new No 1.
But that goalkeeper isn't expected to be Verbruggen, who is on the way to the south coast as Brighton continue preparations for the Europa Conference League.
