Manchester United look primed to disappoint Luke Shaw in the summer transfer window after he expressed his desire for England team-mates Declan Rice and Harry Kane to join the club. The Red Devils' uncertain ownership situation has left Erik ten Hag's recruitment plans in limbo.
England have trained at United's Carrington base in the days leading up to Monday's Euro 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia at Old Trafford.
It has allowed United-linked duo Rice and Kane to see the training ground themselves and experience a home crowd at the Theatre of Dreams.
In a press conference at the weekend, Shaw admitted he had tried his hand as an agent during the Three Lions camp.
He told reporters: "I am not going to lie. I am speaking to them, telling them how good Manchester is because I know their qualities.
"I know they are world-class players, and they would be a massive help to us, but I can only say so much. It is up to the club, and whatever they decide, so we have to go from there.
"They have been here the last couple of days, and hopefully, they like it and can get used to it! If it was down to me, I would take them in a heartbeat.
"They would improve our team massively and help us go to what we want to achieve."
However, the Glazers are delaying a takeover, leaving Erik ten Hag with a limited summer budget with Financial Fair Play limitations.
But the unclear nature of United's future is an even more impactful deterrent to the Dutchman's transfer plans.

Man Utd have four special weapons to cut £86m asking price and seal Hojlund deal [COMMENT]
The M16 giants have walked away from Harry Kane due to Tottenham Hotspur's refusal to sell to a direct rival, and they could do the same with Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund due to his price tag.
Meanwhile, United's takeover fiasco has helped Arsenal steal a march on Rice's signature, with the West Ham United captain now set for the Emirates Stadium.
Shaw could link up with one of his England pals in Mason Mount as Ten Hag readies to sanction a bid worth around £50million this week, seeing an initial £40m offer instantly rejected.
But he will be among the masses frustrated with United's protracted sale while Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe wait in the wings.
