Tottenham manager Antoni Conte reviews Southampton draw
With Tottenham yet to officially part ways with Antonio Conte, amid an expectancy it will happen, it’s still unclear whether the Italian will continue in north London. He currently pockets £15million a year operating in the capital, making him one of the best-paid Premier League bosses behind only Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. With Julian Nagelsmann available, however, they could be primed to save millions if they meet what the 35-year-old was pocketing at Bayern Munich prior to his departure.
Bayern surprised the whole of world football earlier in the week when they axed Nagelsmann, who learnt of his departure while skiing in Austria.
They had seemingly planned for the long-term with the 35-year-old, having prised him away from RB Leipzig just under 18 months previously.
But Nagelsmann is now a free agent and, with Tottenham widely expected to axe Conte in the wake of his recent rant about ‘selfish’ players, the stars could be about to align.
Spurs had turned to Conte in the hope he’d end their hope for a trophy back in November 2021.
Yet they’ve never hit the heights expected and, with the Italian’s contract up in the summer anyway, a departure is on the cards.

Regarding Nagelsmann, the German confessed in 2020 that he could ‘imagine’ himself managing in England.
"The Premier League is a very interesting league and I can imagine it could be a big aim to be a big manager in the Premier League one day like Jurgen [Klopp] who is very successful,” he said.
“It could be a step in the future. But, you know, in soccer it’s not that easy to plan ‘how long will you be a manager in Leipzig? When will you go to the Premier League?’
"I could imagine going to the Premier League. I could imagine staying as a manager in the Bundesliga for my whole career.

“It’s cool to be a manager in my own country. I love it.
“But then perhaps in the future we can meet face-to-face in the Premier League, who knows."
Tottenham are next in action against Everton on April 3.
They currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, with Newcastle hot on their heels in the race to qualify for the Champions League.
