Tottenham manager Antoni Conte reviews Southampton draw
Tottenham are interested in hiring Julian Nagelsmann as their next manager in the wake of his departure from Bayern Munich. However, with the German contemplating a period of rest, it’s possible the north London giants may have to bide their time. And it’s been widely reported that, should Antonio Conte leave ahead of schedule, Ryan Mason will be installed as manager on a temporary basis once again.
The footballing world was stunned earlier in the week when it emerged Bayern Munich would be sacking Nagelsmann, just over 18 months since his arrival.
The 35-year-old has won three trophies with the club but, with the Bundesliga giants inconsistent of late, the trigger was pulled on his reign.
Nagelsmann is open to talks with Tottenham, who are widely expected to part ways with Conte.
But Sky Sports have claimed the German is also considering a brief break until the end of the campaign as he recovers from this managerial setback.
And, should that happen, then Tottenham are likely to give Mason the keys to the club until the end of the season.

However, Spurs have lacked consistency during his tenure and his temper has boiled over as a result.
Conte was livid last Sunday, venting his fury after a late Southampton double prevented Tottenham from leaving Saint Mary’s with three precious points to their name.
And the rant he unleashed following the result may well have cost him his future at the club.
Meanwhile, former Tottenham star and manager Glenn Hoddle recently had his say on Conte.
And he admitted he sympathised with the Italian, telling Betfair: “No one knows what's going on. As a Spurs fan, I wanted Conte to come out and say that he wanted to stay and do the job.

“While I don't think he'll be at Tottenham next season, I think Conte has done a decent job.
“If this squad had played the open football that the fans wanted, they'd have been mid-table so I think Conte has done very well with what he's got.
“If he was given more to build in parts of the team then I think success would've been around the corner.
“There's no plan at Tottenham so everyone is up in arms at the moment. They need to finish in the top four this season but it's difficult because there's no harmony in the team.

“You look at Manchester United a few years back, now they've settled down with a manager they're happy with and we can all see the turnaround that's happened - that's what's got to happen to Tottenham.”
He also expressed a belief Mauricio Pochettino should return, too, saying: “If you'd asked me before he went to Bayern Munich, I'd have said Thomas Tuchel because he shouldn't have been sacked by Chelsea.
“At the moment there's no one I think they should go after.
“Whatever Tottenham do at the moment is a risk whereas I think Mauricio Pochettino would be less of a risk and he's someone the fans want.”
