ten Hag comments on Man Utd's January transfer plans
The January transfer window is now taking shape with Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and others putting plans into action. The Blues have not found it difficult to conduct business in what is traditionally considered to be the trickier of the two windows, while the Gunners and the Red Devils are taking a slower approach.
United boss Erik ten Hag and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta are still in need of reinforcements, however, with a top-four push and a Premier League title charge respectively at stake.
Cristiano Ronaldo's exit from Old Trafford has left the club looking for a new striker but big spending in the summer has forced them to take a more creative approach, with loan deals thought to be a priority. Arsenal are ready to spend big money with Mykhaylo Mudryk negotiations hanging in the balance while Chelsea have already continued their spree from the summer, when new co-owner Todd Boehly set the record for the most money spent by one club in a single window.

Rangers boss Beale talks up Davies and Cantwell deals
Rangers boss Michael Beale has hinted the club could swoop for Everton's Tom Davies and Norwich's Todd Cantwell.
He said on the duo: “No names but I think they are both good players to be fair. Todd was an excellent player when he was young and playing against my Liverpool Under 23s.
“I thought he would go on and have a fantastic career. He had that at the start and he is maybe just looking for a move to re-ingite it but I think he is a fantastic player at a good age.
“And Tom Davies, he used to kick my Liverpool Under 23s team all around the place. There’s a bit of John Lundstram about him. But again, two really good players.
“Not confirming anything with those two. But there’s a lot of players we are speaking to at the moment."
Tottenham consider David Raya a prime target to replace Hugo Lloris as their long-term No 1, according to The Telegraph.
Raya is into the final 18 months of his Brentford contract and, during the summer, Express Sport understood that he was willing to listen to transfer offers.
The Bees have an accomplished deputy in Thomas Strakoshka who has fed off scraps so far this season.
Jordan Pickford is also thought to be a goalkeeper of interest for Spurs with Lloris turning 36 last month.
Southampton have seen an £8.8million bid for striker Terem Moffi rejected by Lorient, according to Foot Mercato.
The 23-year-old frontman has scored 10 league goals this season and the Saints are staring down the barrel of a Premier League relegation battle under new boss Nathan Jones.
Moffi, who has nine caps for Nigeria, supposedly wants to leave Lorient but the Ligue 1 outfit are demanding a larger sum for one of their star players.

Besiktas are reportedly negotiating with the agent of Vincent Aboubakar, sparking fresh optimism that Wout Weghorst will leave the Turkish outfit for Manchester United.
Weghorst is still on the books at Burnley which complicates matters and Besiktas have publicly called for some form of compensation if his loan is cut short.
But they appear to be preparing for the worst and Aboubakar could come in as his replacement after having his contract terminated by Al-Nassr.
Everton have submitted a £17.6million transfer offer for Lorient striker Dango Ouattara, according to Foot Mercato.
The 20-year-old has five goals in 11 caps for Burkina Faso and has notched nine goal contributions in 16 Ligue 1 games this term.
Toffees boss Frank Lampard is under pressure to find a solution to his side's lack of goals with Dominic Calvert-Lewin misfiring and Neal Maupay unable to fill the void.
Manchester United's swoop for Wout Weghorst has been plunged into doubt with Besiktas sporting director Ceyhun Kazanci demanding a form of compensation from Burnley.
Weghorst has been in fine form with Besiktas after signing on a season-long loan from the Clarets but Erik ten Hag reportedly wants him at Old Trafford.
Such a move would require the green light from all parties and Kazanci claims that Besiktas need some kind of incentive to play ball.
"He can't just go," he stated. "There will have to be a reward for us to approve the separation. I'll give an example. Burnley could tell us, 'We made a deal with this team for Weghorst. We will give you half of the transfer fee'. This may be a different condition. Then we'll sit down and talk."
Leeds United are closing in on their second major signing of the January transfer window.
Jesse Marsch has already welcomed Max Wober to Elland Road and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Georginio Rutter could be next with talks 'very advanced' for the Hoffenheim forward.
Rutter, 20, has four goal contibutions in 15 Bundesliga games this season but he is tipped for a bright future and will supposedly set the Whites back £26million.
Negotiations between Leeds United and Hoffenheim for Georginio Rutter are now very advanced. Fee discussed around €30m, personal terms already agreed. ⚪️ #LUFC

Manchester United may have their striker situation solved by pulling off a loan move for Burnley striker Wout Weghorst this month, but the deal is not without its complications.
The Netherlands international has been in fine goalscoring form on loan at Besiktas and the Turkish outfit would be required to give their approval to cut the spell short in order for Weghorst to move to Old Trafford.
Although the striker himself is thought to be keen on the switch, Besiktas have an £8.8million option to buy him at the end of the season which, if they are keen to activate it, could stop the United move in its tracks.

Atletico Madrid's hefty financial demands to take Joao Felix on loan for the rest of the season are now common knowledge but Arsenal have reportedly come back with a new offer.
The Gunners are looking to add strength in depth this month to equip Mikel Arteta with a squad capable of pushing for the Premier League title.
Their latest proposal to Atletico supposedly centres around a £5million loan fee and an option to buy at the end of the season for less than £70m, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs.
The Rojiblancos are thought to value the 23-year-old higher than that on both loan and permanent fronts.
Chelsea have ramped up their efforts to sign Marcus Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach, according to The Daily Mail.
The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer which means he could be available on a cheap deal this month, providing Gladbach are prepared to do business.
Manchester United have also been credited with interest in Thuram, who can play across the front line and featured at the World Cup for France.
Chelsea are in need of firepower up top with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang failing to convince and Armando Broja out injured.
