It was a comfortable night under the lights for the home side, who were in cruise control right from the very beginning. Casemiro had to wait a while to get going at United following his summer move from Real Madrid.
But this was another strong showing from the Brazil international, who oozes class in the middle of the park.
Casemiro is a player in his prime and United, in the 30-year-old, have a player who can break up play and create opportunities for their forwards in equal measure.
Back in the summer, the Red Devils’ main target was Frenkie de Jong.
But nobody is regretting the decision to switch focus to Casemiro instead, with the Samba star simply an undroppable presence in the middle of the park.

Another player United signed back in the summer was Eriksen, who arrived on a free transfer from Brentford.
And it’s clear with each passing game that the Denmark international, at zero cost, is a bargain.
Eriksen has been one of United’s best players this term, helping to dictate play in midfield having formerly been more on a No 10 during his spells at Ajax, Tottenham and Inter Milan.
Not since Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick have the Red Devils had such a midfield gem at their disposal.
And though United also have the likes of Donny van de Beek and Fred in reserve, Eriksen is simply a class above…

Man Utd’s next five fixtures
United are next in action against West Ham on Sunday, with the Red Devils hoping to return to winning ways in the Premier League after their 1-1 draw with Chelsea last time out.
On November 3, they then face Real Sociedad in a crunch Europa League clash in Spain.
After that, United have a double header against Aston Villa - who they’ll face in the Premier League and Carabao Cup on November 6 and November 10.
On November 13, United will travel to Fulham - who sit a spot below them in the league table having picked up 18 points from their opening 12 fixtures.
