Rashford's upturn in form down to his'happiness' says ten Hag
Former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie thinks ‘something isn’t right’ with Marcus Rashford despite his improved form for Manchester United so far this season. The England international has netted three times from six appearances so far this term. And that’s led to renewed hopes the 24-year-old can finally fulfil his potential over at Old Trafford.
Rashford endured a nightmare season for Manchester United last time out, scoring just five goals as the club toiled under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
Yet he’s shown some early signs of improvement under Ten Hag, with the England international netting three times already this term.
Rashford would likely have been included in the Three Lions’ squad for upcoming matches with Italy and Germany if injury hadn’t cruelly struck.
However, though the forward is starting to get back to his blockbuster best, former Hammers star McAvennies thinks something still ‘isn’t right’ with the United star.
And he’s also taken aim at the youngster for his government work, suggesting that has impacted his performances on the field.
“He’s left out so of course everyone’s making a big thing about it,” he told Football Insider.

“The thing is he’s been playing alright. They put him up front again.
“I knew in his first couple of games for Man United he was different class then all of a sudden he’s not.
“I like seeing players fighting for the club. It doesn’t matter if you grew up supporting the club, they’re paying you a hell of a lot of money, surely you should be fighting for that club and fighting for the fans, you don’t see enough of that. That annoys me.
“There’s so many people taking money out the club and not putting much back in it.
“I think he’s a talent but ever since he got involved with the government he’s not really kicked a ball.
“He did brilliantly for the country but he needs to get back to football now, that’s what his job is.

Speaking after that win, meanwhile, Ian Wright hailed the Red Devils star and admitted he was delighted at seeing Rashford get back to his best after a year of inconsistency.
Speaking on the Ringer FC podcast, he said: "I was really pleased for Rashford because – it was the same as the Liverpool game – he’s another one of those players that everything he does is quite defining.
"If he misses that [first goal], it goes to that place of real negativity again.
"But what I’ve seen from him up until this point, especially with the last two goals he’s scored, is somebody that thinks 'If I’m going through, I’m scoring'.
"I can’t complain about that because Arsenal went there with the right attitude.
