Erik ten Hag on Cristiano Ronaldo staying at Man Utd
Cristiano Ronaldo and Erik ten Hag have been filmed joking together in Manchester United training. The Portugal international has made just one start under his new boss so far this season. Yet the veteran will be hoping to feature when the Red Devils lock horns with Sheriff FC in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Ronaldo wanted to leave Manchester United back in the summer but Ten Hag, ever defiant, insisted the Portugal international would be staying.
However, it’s been a frustrating campaign for the 37-year-old so far despite him managing 24 goals across all competitions under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last term.
Ronaldo has started just two matches, but United have lost both - against Brentford and Real Sociedad.
Yet ahead of his side’s Europa League showdown with Sheriff, the Portugal international and Ten Hag seemed to be in good spirits.
Twitter user @TimelineCR7 shared a video filmed from training that shows the duo sharing a joke.

Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes may then be deployed in midfield alongside the 30-year-old.
And Jadon Sancho and Rashford could potentially be fielded alongside Ronaldo as United look to claim all three points.
Meanwhile, some believe Ronaldo’s flat performances are down to the veteran missing pre-season.
The former Real Madrid and Juventus star was allowed extra time off due to personal reasons, meaning he wasn’t fully at the races at the start of the season.
And Raphael Varane has admitted Ronaldo’s lack of pre-season has been a hindrance to his team-mate.
