Manchester United continue to have Mauricio Pochettino under consideration to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s replacement at Old Trafford. The Red Devils will hire a new boss at the end of the campaign and, though Ralf Rangnick has steadied the ship, it’s the current Paris Saint-Germain manager who is the frontrunner to take over. He’s been admired for years and, this summer, the two parties may finally be brought together.
United actually looked at hiring Pochettino as Sir Alex Ferguson’s replacement in 2013 before going for David Moyes instead.
He was also eyed to take over from Louis van Gaal in 2016, only for the availability of Jose Mourinho to see them settle for his appointment.
When United sacked Mourinho in December 2018, they had designs on bringing Pochettino to Old Trafford.
However, Solskjaer’s fine run as interim boss saw the popular 48-year-old given the job instead.
Now, as United prepare themselves for the start of yet another new era, it’s possible they’ll turn to Pochettino.
Widespread reports have today suggested the club’s players are sold on the idea of the Argentine taking charge, so Express Sport now takes a look at who he could pursue if he leaves Paris Saint-Germain for a Premier League return.

Harry Kane wanted to leave Tottenham in the summer, with Manchester City his preferred destination.
However, he was ultimately denied his wish and has since endured a troublesome campaign over in north London - even if he’s now improving under Antonio Conte.
Kane had a strong bond with Pochettino during their time at Tottenham together and that could see United push for his signing at the end of the campaign.
Tottenham are unlikely to block their prized asset leaving for a second time, even if they would demand a substantial fee to let him go.
And with United seeing Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani enter the twilight years of their respective careers, it’s feasible Kane will be placed under consideration.
Pochettino would likely endorse a move for West Ham star Declan Rice.
After all, why wouldn’t he? The England international is currently United’s priority summer transfer target when it comes to improving their midfield having sparkled for the Hammers over the past few years.
Like Kane, Rice would again go for a premium price with David Moyes previously indicating bids of £100million or more would be considered.
Yet given United’s need for midfield reinforcements, a summer transfer is definitely possible.
Pochettino coaxed the best from Moussa Dembele during his time with Tottenham and could help Rice evolve in a different environment.
