Newcastle are interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea and have spoken privately to Allan Saint-Maximin about his former team-mate, according to reports. Plea and Saint-Maximin played alongside each other at Nice during the 2017/18 season. The duo were both regulars for the French side that campaign and Newcastle have asked their star for information on the forward.

French outlet L'Equipe claims Newcastle are interested in signing Plea either this month or in the summer.
Plea's contract at Monchengladbach expires in 2023 so the Bundesliga side could look to cash in on the 28-year-old.
The striker, who won his only cap for France in 2018, is not expected to sign a new deal with Monchengladbach.
L'Equipe says Newcastle like the profile of Plea and have asked Saint-Maximin about him as the pair have remained friends since their season together in France.
