The Euro 2024 quarter-finals kick off today with two titanic clashes on the cards. Host Germany are set to take on Spain, who have arguably been the standout team of the competition so far, in Stuttgart.

Later in the day, Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo will face off as France and Portugal go head-to-head in Hamburg. On Saturday at 5pm, England, who have yet to truly convince, will face their toughest challenge yet against a dangerous Switzerland side in Dusseldorf.

The winners of that match will then face either the Netherlands or Turkey, who play later that evening in Berlin. After a gruelling schedule of four games in just two weeks, few of the remaining eight teams have emerged unscathed. Here's a rundown of who will be absent from the quarter-finals...

Germany

The hosts have no concerns over player availability and are expected to welcome back defender Jonathan Tah. He was suspended for the last-16 clash against Denmark but could replace Nico Schlotterbeck as Antonio Rudiger's centre-back partner.

Spain

Like Germany, Spain have no injury or suspension worries and could field the same team that came from behind to thrash Georgia 4-1.

France

Midfielder Adrien Rabiot is set to miss out after receiving a booking during the hard-fought 1-0 victory over Belgium. This is a significant setback for the French, although coach Didier Deschamps has a number of impressive alternatives to choose from. It remains uncertain whether Kingsley Coman will feature after leaving the camp to attend the birth of his fourth child.

Portugal

Roberto Martinez's squad seems to have emerged unscathed from their intense penalty shootout victory over Slovenia, with Ronaldo expected to spearhead the attack once more. The question remains, will he continue to take free-kicks and penalties?

England

Marc Guehi is set to miss the clash against Switzerland due to suspension after receiving a yellow card in the match against Slovakia. Ezri Konsa is likely to fill his shoes.

Kieran Trippier was forced off the pitch with an injury during that game but is expected to be fit. However, Gareth Southgate may opt for a change in formation and switch to a back three. Luke Shaw might get some game time, but it won't be from the start. Jude Bellingham, meanwhile, will not be banned for the contest despite UEFA investigating his conduct vs Slovakia.

Switzerland

The Swiss team had concerns over Granit Xhaka's fitness due to an abductor problem, but the ex-Arsenal midfielder will be ready to play.

Netherlands

Ronald Koeman's team have no injuries or suspensions to worry about, but could still make at least one alteration after Donyell Malen netted twice as a substitute in the 3-0 triumph over Romania, potentially replacing Steven Bergwijn.

Turkey

Turkey's manager Vincenzo Montella will need to make several changes following his team's thrilling victory over Austria. While both Samet Akaydin and Hakan Calhanoglu are now available after serving their suspensions, Kokcu, who was forced off the pitch with an injury, and Ismail Yuksek are now banned.

Merih Demiral, the scorer of both goals against Austria, is under scrutiny after allegedly making a political gesture post-match that could result in a ban. UEFA is reportedly investigating whether Demiral made a 'wolf's salute', a gesture associated with the Turkish nationalist movement.
