Mauricio Pochettino discusses Manchester United job
Manchester United are working to appoint their next permanent manager before the end of the season, reports say. The Red Devils placed Ralf Rangnick in charge until the end of the campaign following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer given none of their top targets were available. However, Mauricio Pochettino may now be the next man to be given the keys to Old Trafford.
Manchester United considered their options following the dismissal of Solskjaer, who lost his job at the end of November after a heavy 4-1 defeat away at Watford.
In the end they brought in Rangnick, who has underwhelmed throughout his time in the Old Trafford dugout so far.
Now, the Manchester Evening News say United are hoping to appoint their next permanent manager before the end of the campaign.
And the publication states that Pochettino, who is widely believed to be their No 1 target, is ‘eager’ to manage the club.
United are said to want things to be as smooth as possible, with David Moyes and Jose Mourinho both behind their thinking.
Their delay in paying Everton compensation to release Moyes in 2013 saw the Scot struggle to make his mark early after replacing Sir Alex Ferguson.

And Brendan Rodgers can’t be entirely ruled out, either, with United apparently sounding out the Leicester boss earlier in the season.
Speaking earlier this month, meanwhile, Paul Ince expressed a belief that Pochettino would be the right man to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.
“(Problems) won't be solved in a year, maybe two years,” Ince told Sky Sports.
“When I watched Chelsea-Liverpool I was just dreaming that I could see Man United playing like that one day because it was an unbelievable standard of football.
“I thought (Mauricio) Pochettino was the man, I've always clamoured for him to be the man.

“He still might be the man if PSG don't win the Champions League. But whoever the man is has to have a four-year project. This team needs investment.”
Ince also wants United to back whoever takes over from Rangnick in the transfer market.
“The recruitment has been poor over so many, many years,” he added.
“It needs the right man, with the right philosophy and the right project to take this club forward.
“You can't have a manager in the next season and if things aren't going well after five months - we start booing him - it ain't gonna work.”
