Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand's pre-match comments have come back to haunt him after Saturday's humiliation against Watford. United fell to a 4-1 defeat at Vicarage Road - their fifth loss in seven Premier League games - as the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer nears its climax.
Adidas and Manchester United have launched their official 2021/22 home jersey, putting a modern twist on their classic club styles.
Ahead of the game, Ferdinand expressed his hope that Solskjaer could motivate his players out of the rut, as he has done several times throughout his topsy-turvy tenure.
He told BT Sport: "One thing I would say about Ole is that when he's needed results and during his tenure, we've seen that he can do that and come up with the goods.
"Today he needs to get that and these guys need to put in a performance and get three points."

But United's display was far from what you would consider an acceptable response to a disastrous derby day against Manchester City before the international break.
Goals from Josh King, Ismaila Sarr, Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis heaped misery on Solskjaer, who is unsurprisingly on the verge of being sacked.
Donny van de Beek ironically provided the consolation goal - given his widely-noticed lack of chances since Solskjaer signed him.
Harry Maguire's sending off didn't help proceedings on a day that has likely put the nail in his manager's coffin.

And after full-time, Solskjaer's comments were damning when you consider Ferdinand's hopes of an improved performance.
The Norwegian boss explained that his side were 'outfought' by the newly-promoted outfit - a worrying admission.
"The first-half is the worst we've played and it's hard for me to explain why we played the way we did and allowed them to get in our box from nothing," Solskjaer bemoaned.
"The goalkeeper could go up to the halfway line and put it in the box - we were outfought.
