Manchester City have rejected a bid from Brighton and Hove Albion worth £8million for teenage midfielder James McAtee, according to reports. Brighton face Premier League competition for the highly-rated star, who recently made his senior debut at the Etihad Stadium.

According to The Athletic, Brighton have made the most concrete approach for the youngster affectionately dubbed the 'Salford Silva', and Crystal Palace and West Ham United are also monitoring his situation.
But Man City believe he has a future at the club and have told interested parties that he isn't for sale at any price.
Manchester United will be frustrated by the electric signs McAtee is showing, given he left the Red Devils as a child.
After United released his older brother, John, their father decided to take out James as well.
City welcomed him with open arms and now have a serious young talent within their ranks.

"The other players talked to me, helped me out. It was just good to be on the pitch. The nerves kick in, and you don't want to embarrass yourself in front of fans.
"But when you come on, and they're all cheering and chanting, you're comfortable. All my mates and family came, and they're all proud of me."
McAtee's first taste of first-team football has made him determined to continue catching Guardiola's eye in the U23s for more opportunities.
"I have to push on and keep doing what I'm doing in the 23s and trying to impress," McAtee added.
