David Moyes has conceded that West Ham have struggled to sign a striker this summer despite the Scot being ‘desperate’ for a new frontman. The Hammers boss wants to strengthen his squad in a bid to cope with a longer fixture list this season.
The East Londoners exceeded all expectations last season by finishing sixth in the Premier League.
A wonderful campaign laid down a path to Europa League football for 2021-22.
Despite competing in Europe, West Ham have made just one addition to their squad. Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has been signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
Last season’s loanee Craig Dawson has also remained after he met the requirements to have his temporary stay from Watford made permanent.

Moyes has admitted that a top priority is to sign a new forward. That is despite Michail Antonio scoring three goals in his first two matches this season.
West Ham missed out on signing Tammy Abraham, who has joined Roma from Chelsea in a £34m deal. Eddie Nketiah is also a target but the Arsenal youngster is widely reported to be further along in talks with Crystal Palace.
“I'm really desperate to sign a forward but from what we can get, and what we've been offered - at the moment I'm not quite getting it,” Moyes told reporters on Friday.
“It's either the cost is too much, or they're not available. I hope we find someone but I certainly haven't got any guarantees that's for sure.
