Man City: Guardiola coy on Erling Haaland transfer talk
Manchester City are set to go after Southampton striker Danny Ings this summer instead of Erling Haaland, and Liverpool could benefit from the move. Reports suggest Liverpool included a sell-on clause when they sold the striker to Southampton.
Premier League leaders City are making plans for the upcoming transfer window.
The Citizens have apparently decided that signing a new centre-forward is their top priority.
Sergio Aguero is out of contract at the end of the season, and it seems unlikely he'll sign a new deal.
Gabriel Jesus is yet to prove he can step into the legendary Argentine's shoes, and as a result a new target is being lined up.

Erling Haaland has been looked at, but the Borussia Dortmund wonderkid will likely cost an extortionate amount.
Due to his release clause of £68million being active from 2022, numerous teams are queueing up to try and sign him this summer to get him before that clause comes into play.
As a result, City have started to look at Southampton star Ings, who is expected to leave the Saints this summer.
The 28-year-old English striker is under contract until 2022, and for that reason he could be signed for significantly less than Haaland.

If Pep Guardiola and co do end up going for Ings, it would have a direct impact on Liverpool's transfer plans.
The Reds sold Ings in 2019 after a number of injuries plagued his time at Anfield.
The sold him for £18m with another £2m on add-ons, but the Liverpool Echo claims they included a 20 per-cent sell-on fee.
While it seems unlikely Ings would move for a heavy transfer fee, it will still be useful to the Reds if they are able to receive any money from the deal.
