Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp added on the incident: "It was an awful situation.
"I have spoken to Wolves staff, they are rather positive. It was a proper shock."
Former England and West Ham goalkeeper Rob Green gave his view on the injury as it happened.
"Even if it was the impact on the head, the whiplash through the neck and the damage that can be done can be quite great," Green said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"They have to make sure his welfare is taken care of before they move him.
