Man Utd: Solskjaer warns Fernandes to 'not boil over'
Manchester United icon Sir Alex Ferguson ‘would have loved’ Bruno Fernandes, according to a club insider. The Portugal international has been a huge Old Trafford hit ever since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon 13 months ago. And he’s got fans dreaming of a first Premier League title since 2013, with the 26-year-old propelling them to second in the Premier League table.
United were a club stuck in a rut prior to Fernandes’ signing.
But, since the 26-year-old’s arrival, he’s transformed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Fernandes has helped United become a Premier League superpower once again, scoring 17 goals and registering 11 assists across all competitions to drive their quest for silverware.
The Portugal international has drawn comparisons with Eric Cantona as a result of his sensational displays and, at the current rate, is the overwhelming favourite to win the PFA Player of the Year award at the end of the campaign.
And a source close to Ferguson has told The Athletic that the Scot ‘would have loved’ Fernandes.

Fernandes is in it for the long haul at United and, speaking recently, outlined his desire to achieve much success at the Theatre of Dreams.
“Definitely not the result I wanted to celebrate my first year as a Red, but we’ll keep working to improve,” he said after their goalless draw with Arsenal.

“Bruno has come in and helped the team, no doubt about that,” he said.
“Bruno came in at a time when we needed that type of player and he came into a team that makes his attributes and skills come to fruition.
“He’s come to a team that suits him and he suits the team. That goes hand in hand.
“If the players don’t run, Bruno can’t play his passes. If Bruno doesn’t play his passes then they can’t run.
“He’s part of a chain here and I’m sure that Bruno will say that he also appreciates his teammates and that they help him through games.”

Fernandes is expected to start when United lock horns with Everton on Saturday.
And the Red Devils will be hoping to get the better of Carlo Ancelotti’s team for the third time this season.
United won the Premier League match between the two teams at Goodison Park, with Fernandes scoring twice and providing an assist for Edinson Cavani in a 3-1 victory.
And they ran out 2-0 winners when the sides met in the Carabao Cup in December.
Whether United can strike for a third time, however, remains to be seen.
